Dark Souls confirmed for Steam launch

31 May 2012

The people have spoken, and Namco Bandai has heard – following a massive outcry about Dark Souls for PC launching as a Games for Windows LIVE title, the publisher has confirmed that the game will also be dropping on Steam for those who don’t want anything to do with Microsoft’s PC platform. So that’s basically everybody.

A petition for a Steam release was signed by more than 23,000 gamers.

Namco also announced that the Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition’s previously exclusive PC content would be available for console players at an as yet undetermined date “this winter”, so around the end of the year.

The DLC includes the Artorias of the Abyss expansion (with new places to go, new things to kill, and all that good stuff), and will be tagged at 1200 MSP and $14.99 on Xbox LIVE and the PlayStation Network respectively.

The game’s out on PC on 24 August. And the bit about preparing to die? They really mean it.
