1 June 2012

A widespread ADSL outage in the greater Pretoria and greater Nelspruit areas meant that Telkom ADSL services may have been inaccessible in these areas.

MWEB told its subscribers at around 14:00 that it “has been notified of a widespread ADSL outage affecting the greater Pretoria and greater Nelspruit areas”.

Numerous neighborhoods had been hit by this outage, including Erasmusrand, Moreleta Park, Waterkloof, Bronberg, Komatiepoort, Lydenburg, Faerie Glen, Witrivier, Willows, Tygervalley, Nelspruit, Zwavelpoort, Lynnwood Glen, Middelburg, Woodhill, Witbank and Silverton.

Telkom has confirmed the problem, explaining that it was caused by a municipal power outage. According to Telkom, power is restored and ADSL services should be up and running again.
