Hold onto your worlds, everybody, they’re about to get rocked – the multiplayer component of Gears of War: Judgement is totally not all about shotguns. I know, it’s a big shock and we’re all going to have to come to terms with it somehow, but we’ll make it.
According to the latest issue of Game Informer, Gears of War: Judgement will feature class-based multiplayer, with only a single class – Damon Baird as the engineer – packing a shotgun. He also comes with a blowtorch though, so combined with shotty-gibs that’s like instant hamburgers. Nom.
Augustus Cole is the soldier class, equipped with a Lancer and Boomshot, and able to deploy ammo crates and resupply Baird’s blowtorch. There’s also a medic, Sophia Hendricks, who totes a Lancer, Snub pistol, and reviving Stim Grenades, as well as Garron Paduk as a scout, armed with a Longshot, Snub, and beacons.
Over on the other side, the Locust forces resemble Gears of War 3’s Beast mode roster, with a Wretch, Ticker, Kantus, Grenadier, Bloodmount, Mauler, Serapede, and Corpser all doing pretty much exactly what they’re doing now.
Apparently inspired by Team Fortress and DOTA, the game’s new Overrun mode tasks players with defending a pair of objectives from the other team over two timed rounds. There will be blood. Buckets of it.
Expect to see more about Gears of War: Judgement during Microsoft’s pre-E3 conference tonight, starting 6PM local time, and keep an eye on MyGaming’s E3 coverage as it unfolds.
