German retailer lists Diablo III for PS3

4 June 2012

Diablo III’s on-again, off-again console version is back in the news after a German online retailer listed the game for PS3.

According to the product info on RedCoon, the game is due to launch this year and features “multiplayer support via Battle.net, with opportunities for cooperative and competitive” play. Interestingly enough (or not), the game is not listed for Xbox 360.

Blizzard has been carefully non-committal about the game coming to console, although they’ve been posting job vacancies for console developers for a couple of years now. Last November, Diablo III director Jay Wilson commented on the subject saying that “People don’t believe us when we say we’re going to make a console game – flat out.

“We haven’t officially announced a product. We say that because we like our product announcements to be a big deal. We haven’t been as secretive about this one because our biggest barrier is actually getting a console team.”

The company won’t be at E3, so maybe don’t expect that announcement this week.
