Remedy Games registers AlanWake2.com domain

4 June 2012

Is there actually going to be an Alan Wake sequel for real-real? The internet thinks so, and I mean that in the most obvious sense – developer Remedy Games has registered the domain AlanWake2.com.

Of course, they could just be putting their name on the URL to prevent unscrupulous domain squatters from getting there first, but I prefer to be optimistic about this stuff. Also, I really, really, really, really, really want another Alan Wake game, and somebody once told me that if I wished for something hard enough, I could make it happen. Okay, so I’m still waiting for powers of invisibility, but it could be any day now. Any day. You’ll see. Or you won’t, because I’ll be invisible.

Anyway, the registration follows a Tweet from Remedy lead writer Sam Lake over the weekend, who said that “It’s all true. ‘It will happen again, in another town, a town called Ordinary.’ It’s happening now.”

Dun dun duuuun.

Back when the first game launched, it was pretty much an open secret that Remedy had a second one ready to go, but the game’s modest sales on console – following on several years of development – put that sequel on indefinite hold.
