The recently rumoured Splinter Cell: Black List is no longer a rumour.
A batch of screenshots have prematurely leaked out for the upcoming Ubisoft game, which features Sam Fisher in a high-tech body suit and looking a little grey, similar to that of Splinter Cell: Conviction.
The screenshots also show that the game features wide-open environments, and ones which look incredibly Middle-Eastern.
The game is reportedly lined up for a January 2013 release on Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii U.
The original info came from a NeoGAF forum member, who posted saying that they had seen the promotional material for the game and that Sam Fisher “is looking good as always with no grey hair, full body suit, and his mighty night goggles, including a serious look on his face”.
It’s also said that Blacklist will act as a sequel to 2010’s Splinter Cell: Conviction, which received a great critical reception, despite moving in a more action-oriented direction from the series’ traditional stealth-based gameplay.
After piling millions of dollars into a new Splinter Cell studio, Ubisoft’s Jade Raymond mentioned that the Splinter Cell game would deliver something different and unique.
“It will have all of the action flick elements for sure, but we’re trying to also explore something a little bit more interesting that is actually one of the themes that’s at the root of the franchise historically, but never has been surfaced so much.”
Expect to hear a lot more about Splinter Cell: Black List when Ubisoft hold their E3 presentation.
