Sony and HTC team up

7 June 2012

Sony and HTC have joined forces, in order for the mobile manufacturer to help Sony bring their Playstation Certified mobile gaming initiative to the HTC platform.

“HTC is focused on delivering innovative mobile experiences for people everywhere and SCE’s immersive world of gaming will bring compelling entertainment to HTC One customers across the globe,” said Kouji Kodera, Chief Product Officer, HTC Corporation.

Sony, along with third party developers and publishers, will be creating games for the mobile market, and will rename their mobile game service from Playstation Suite to Playstation Mobile.

The deal will also benefit both parties, as Sony will get a boost in the mobile market, while HTC’s devices will garner more gaming capabilities and features.

Sony initially made a huge push for mobile gaming with their Xperia Play device from Sony Ericsson, which didn’t fair very well in the competitive mobile gaming market.
