Ghost Recon: Future Soldier delayed on PC, new release date

8 June 2012

With Ghost Recon: Future Soldier already receiving a pretty favourable reception, and MyGaming’s own Dan Parmenter scoring the game impressively, it comes as a blow to PC gamers who will have to wait a little longer before getting their hands on Ubisoft’s high-tech shooter.

The PC version will remain guarded at an undisclosed location for a little while longer, but will emerge on 29 June 2012 – so just a few more weeks of waiting for the keyboard-and-mouse crew.

While belated, the PC version of Ghost Recon: Future Soldier will feature a bunch of beefed-up features.

PC Version Key Features:

  • Support DX11 (adding visual details on characters through displacement mapping, as well as some global illumination effects);
  • More complex materials (like parallax occlusion mapping or gloss and specular maps);
  • Improved dynamic lighting;
  • Volumetric lighting effects;
  • Soft shadows;
  • Improved post-processing with better HDR and motion blur;
  • Playable with keyboard and mouse, or with wired and wireless X360 pads;
  • Will be available via digital distribution; and
  • Windows XP patch coming shortly after release.

Featuring a bucket-load of explosions, gun-fire, synchronized shots, nuclear conspiracies, and just about everything else you’d expect from a modern military shooter, Ghost Recon: Future Soldier is a solid experience that PC gamers are in store for.

    I don’t mind waiting an extra week or so if this isn’t going to be a straight console port. From the videos and review thus far, the game looks amazing from a gameplay and graphics perspective.
