Bethesda wants Rage to be a big franchise

Despite Rage’s lacklustre reception, Bethesda still plans to carry on the franchise. Before the release of the game, Bethesda expressed its intention for Rage to become one of Id’s big names such as Doom or Quake.

Despite this, Bethesda marketing head Pete Hines said people mostly want to know what’s happening with Doom 4.

“We’re looking at doing some things with Rage. But obviously the first thing out of anybody’s lips now when we talk about id is not, hey, what else is up with Rage? They’re asking the question they’ve been asking for five years, six years, seven years, which is, where’s Doom 4? What about Doom 4?

“As far as where we are with Rage, the future for that is still TBD.”

As for Doom 4, all Hines is willing to say is that they’re working on it – the team behind Rage is currently developing the highly anticipated sequel.

Hines also doesn’t have anything more to say on Prey 2 aside from what we already know – it’s not coming out this year and “something” is going on with developer Human Head.

“What we said was it was not coming out this year and we’re still trying to sort some things out with Human Head,” Hines said. “That really hasn’t changed. I don’t have an update for you on that, other than it’s not coming out this year.”

Hines was also vague on possible development for the Wii U.

“Interested? Possibly. Our goal has always been to try to put the game we’re making out on as many platforms as will support it as we’ve made it. We don’t have any current announced titles for Wii U. Whether or not we have any down the road is TBD.”

Somehow Hines has managed to say a whole lot, without saying much at all.
