Battlefield 3’s second content expansion has gone live on PC for Platinum members, and players are probably in the process of downloading the massive 2.85GB content patch.
Premium buyers will have access to the Close Quarters DLC on 12 June, and regular buyers on 26 June. For more details on Battlefield 3 Premium, check out this article: Battlefield 3 Premium is official, price and details finalised.
A number of SA Gaming Service Providers (GSP) have confirmed that their servers are ready for the expansion. Here are the details of those who confirmed with MyGaming:
iGame Online
iGame has hosted 4 new Close Quarters only servers. All 4 servers are now live.
- ZA iGame Hellfire CQ: Domination – 16 Player
- ZA iGame Maverick CQ:GunMAster – 16 Player
- ZA iGame Phoenix CQ:SQDM- 16 Player
- ZA iGame Patriot CQ:TDM – 16 Player
iGame Online manager, Jonathan Smit, pointed out that “DICE does not support or guarantee stability with more than 16 players per map or mode. Increasing MAX players on any Close Quarters map or mode will cause instability.”
“If you do not currently own the new Close Quarters Expansion, you can still play normal Battlefield 3 and Strike at Karkand map pack on our other servers,” added Smit.

WAGE
WAGE has four Close Quarters servers added to their Battlefield 3 lineup:
- ZA [WAGE] Ballistic Charge |Close Quarters|
- ZA [WAGE] Bayonet |Close Quarters|
- ZA [WAGE] GunMaster |Close Quarters|
- ZA [WAGE] Blowout |Close Quarters – Large|
Web Africa Games Master, Robert Tait, said “Close Quarters will be infantry based, and the intense close quarters action will place demand on your reactions, weapons and your ability to work in a team. Catering for the fans of the Call of Duty franchise, the Close Quarters DLC will be focusing on providing intense indoor action hosting up to 16 players.”
“We’ll be hosting three 16 player servers which is the recommended maximum slot count by DICE, and an additional 24 slot server. These four servers will be designated to Close Quarters only, although if there is demand we may change the map rotation to include maps from Back to Karkand and the base game,” added Tait.
MWEB GameZone
MWEB GameZone will have 10 Close Quarters servers running: 4 in Cape Town and 6 in Johannesburg.
Server names:
- Changes to the existing Cape Town Servers
- Server #2 – changes to a CQ SQDM
- Server #9 – changes to a Gunmaster server
- Server #12 – changes to a CQ TDM server
- Server #13 – changes to a CQ Domination server

“We have another Premium-only server that was launched last week Friday, 8 June. That server is running the classic maps in rotation. It’s not, however, getting CQ maps because it’s a 32 player server,” added Kurz.
“Battlefield 3 Clans wanting their own Close Quarters server are welcome to apply for one via our MWEB GameZone Clan Sponsorship program.
