A lot of speculation has been happening regarding the expected price tag of Nintendo’s new console, and with Reggie Fils-Aime recently saying that the gamers will “pleasantly surprised” by the price, it looks as if the Nintendo of America chief was right.
Amazon UK have possibly let the cat out of the bag early, by listing a price and release date for the Nintendo Wii U. Firstly, the release date says 14 July 2012, which seems a little too soon and is quite ridiculous, to be blunt.
What Amazon UK may have credibility with is the price, which pegged at £199.99, therefore working out at around R2,600 for the console.
If – and we emphasise if – the price is to be believed, then it’s not a bad deal for a console which clearly promises so much with it’s dual-screens, tablet-like WiiU GamePad and 1080p graphics.
Amazon quickly pulled the price down, but have left the date up. We hope that it wasn’t an undershot and that the Wii U is priced as fairly as the pulled listing promises.
