Ubisoft Splinter Cell movie “likely”

A few years ago there was a boom in comic book movies, whose success has spawned the multitude of comic book adaptations we continue to see today.

The new fad however seems to be video game movies, and while most of them are terrible (Doom, Max Payne, etc.) we continue to hold out hope that our favourite games will be epicly translated to the silver screen.

The latest video-game-movie rumour is that Ubisoft is negotiation a deal with Paramount Pictures over a new Splinter Cell movie.

The publisher was apparently originally talking to Warner Bros., but that seems to have fallen through as discussions are now ongoing with Paramount Pictures; who refused to comment outside of “there is no deal”.

Popular movie news digger Deadline does call the deal “likely”, and Ubisoft will be very involved in the project. The movie isn’t a tough sell since Splinter Cell could be adapted to a near-generic action flick, and Paramount are already involved with Tom Clancy adaptions.
