King of the Console produces its console factions

18 June 2012

GameZone’s King of the Console Tournament is picking up some steam after it was announced a little while ago.

The tournament, which is planning to pit the best Xbox 360 and PS3 players against one another, has produced its first set of competitors after the opening rounds.

Gamers hit the battlegrounds of Modern Warfare 3 in some FFA (free-for-all) matches and the following 32 players (16 from each console) have been filtered through.

The next step for the players is to meet up at the MWEB MCave on 22 June, where the battle will continue until the best 4 FFA players from each console emerge. The final 4 on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 will then represent their console and battle it out to determine which platform provides the most skilful players.

Last week, Microsoft also jumped in to support the cause and upped the bounty on the prize. If the Xbox team manage to take down the PS3 players, Microsoft and BT Games will throw in R10,000 worth of vouchers – that’s R2,500 for each member of the team.

Congrats to the players who made it through.
