Just Cause 2 multiplayer mod could be the best thing ever

19 June 2012

Even though Just Cause 2 is over two years old, the game still has an undying cult following.

Most recently, a group of PC gamers set out to spruce up the single-player-only open-world action game with multiplayer, and they succeeded.

The JC2-MP mod adds the capabilities for multiple players to unleash havoc, destruction and perform crazy stunts together. Flipping speedboats, tank battles, free-fall competitions, dogfights and just about anything else you can think of doing with friends in Just Cause 2 is now a possibility.

Magnus Johansson, the lead designer of Just Cause 2 at Avalanche Studios, even picked up on the mod and showed his praise through Twitter, saying: “It’s crazy to see what you have done with our game. Loved that buses and jets clip!”

The mod will undoubtedly spark some more interest into Just Cause 2 for players who maybe neglected the over-the-top action game, and can monitor the development of the mod on the Just Cause 2 multiplayer mod page.

Square Enix also recently registered a bunch of Just Cause related domains, hinting that a new entry into the series is on the cards.

The modding group put together a video showcasing the insanity that ensues when a bunch of friends hit the island of Panau together.
