Although Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance looks to be an interesting and innovative prospect for Konami’s series, fans are still wondering when a follow-up to 2007’s Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots will take form.
Designer and creator Hideo Kojima has been very quiet on the matter until now – the man behind the franchise has given some small, but valuable details on the next instalment in the MGS series.
“About Metal Gear Solid 5, I can tell you two things. There will be much question of infiltration, espionage, and convincing people to give you ‘a favour’ like in the last Metal Gear Solid,” the legendary designer said.
“I liked the idea of social interactions in Deus Ex: Human Revolution, but we will see. And if I say more, the female ninja public relations officer, who is behind the door, I will be carved up into pieces. So it’s better that we meet again when the time comes to talk about Metal Gear Solid 5.”
Kojima also mention that MGS5 will run on the FOX engine. Konami showcased their FOX engine a little while ago, showing a young boy in a lush jungle environment. Whether it had something to do with the Metal Gear series is unknown, but either way the engine is looking good.
Although the Metal Gear Solid franchise would inevitably continue, it’s good to hear some details on the matter, and Kojima also responded to those skeptical fans regarding the decision to take the series in the over-the-top hack-and-slash direction of Metal Gear Rising.
“Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance never claimed to be a Metal Gear Solid. This is not a game about our beloved Solid Snake. It is a spinoff that tries something different. We have not yet finished with Solid Snake, despite the fact that I wanted to let him die at the end of Guns of the Patriots.”
We hope to have more details on the mysterious fifth entry into the Metal Gear Solid series.
