Half-Life 2: Episode 3 concept art leaked

28 June 2012

Half-Life 2: Episode 3 is back in the news today (is it ever really out of the news, though?) after a fan site leaked a bunch of concept art images from the game onto Facebook. Alleged concept art, mind you, and described as “circa 2008”, meaning that even if they’re real, everything could have changed by now. Including the game actually being a thing that will actually be released, actually.

Among other things, the images show the chopper from the end of Episode 2, crashed in an arctic setting with some sort of Combine structure in the background, as well as a Combine advisor, and support-protagonist Alyx Vance in a number of winter woolly outfits.

Interestingly enough, however, a moderator on the Steam forum has claimed they’re legit, saying “This is official art, and I’m shocked that this day has come!” When queried further, the same moderator explained that “I know who the source is, but I’m not going to give it away just yet for exclusivity reasons.”

Now we just wait for somebody over at Valve HQ to tell everybody they’re fake and/or that Half-Life 3 is cancelled, anyway.
