Japanese police have taken a 19 year-old college student into custody after he posted his custom Wii homebrew software online, which allows players to boot up pirated games on Nintendo’s console.
The student has allegedly violated Japan’s Unfair Competition Prevention Law, by the releasing the program, which was downloaded around 6,500 times from his website.
The student also generated around $2,500 (around R20,338) from his site in advertising revenue.
In hindsight (or any sight for that matter), hacking a console and posting about it on your personal site was probably not the best idea.
