Halo 2 HD remake in the works, according to rumour

9 July 2012

Apparently Halo 4 isn’t the only Halo game in development over at 343 Industries – word on the information superhighway has it that the studio is also busy with a high-definition remake of Halo 2. Which makes a crazy kind of sense, because 343 Industries has already released a high-definition remake of the first game, Halo: Combat Evolved, launched late last year.

The news comes via the latest issue of Official Xbox Magazine UK, which claims on its industry rumours page that “Following the success of remake Halo Anniversary, 343 Industries has now started development of Halo 2 Anniversary.”

Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary added improved graphics as well as a multiplayer mode built on the Halo: Reach engine, featuring maps from the original Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo: CE for PC, and Halo 2.

For the moment, nobody is confirming or denying anything, with a Microsoft rep telling Kotaku only that “Our focus right now is on developing Halo 4. Beyond that, we do not comment on rumors or speculation.” So you know it’s probably true.
