Monster video game collection sells for €999,999.99 on eBay

Your mom told you that video games were a waste of time, but for one anonymous seller on eBay, they definitely weren’t a waste of money. More like an investment, which I’ve heard is apparently a thing smart people make by paying a bit of money now to make lots of money later.

Anyway, somebody has just punted an enormous collection of games, including pretty much everything ever released for Famicom, Virtual Boy, Super Famicom, N64 (plus DD64 releases), Gamecube, Sega Master System (EU and Japanese, plus Australian, Brazilian, and US exclusives), Sega Game Gear, Sega Megadrive, Sega 32X, Sega Mega CD, Dreamcast, PC Engine Hucard, PC Engine Supergrafx, PC Engine CD, PC Engine Super CD and Arcade CD, PC-FX, and Pioneer LaserActive.

Yeah, at least one person actually bought LaserActive games.

The whole lot adds up to more than 7000 games, most of which are still brand new and sealed in the original packaging, which was bought for the sum of €999,999.99, or just over R10 million.

You can still check out the listing with photos of the entire collection over on eBay, and ask yourself, “Damn, why didn’t I think of that?”

Still, I bet I could get at least R5 for my boxed copy of Conquests of the Longbow. So that’s just another R9,999,995 to go.
