As part of the Road to South Korea and the 2012 IeSF World Championships, the MSSA has organised a test match to pit the South African and Pakistani TEKKEN teams against one another.
2012 will be the first year that South Africa will officially send a team to compete in an international competition in TEKKEN.
The Pakistani team consists of the reigning Pakistani national champion and the player who finished in second place at the 2011 World Cyber Games.
Both players will be testing two of South Africa’s finest in a test match to be played at the home of South African sport – SASCOC House in Melrose. All members will be advised of the date of the test. The games will be shown to the spectators on large screens on either side of the stage.
The South African team will consist of two gamers. Babas Abbas has won the 2011 Mpumalanga Championships, the 2011 South African National Championships, and the 2012 Gauteng Provincial Championships. By having won every single game that he has played in the official championships, Babas is the only gamer who plays TEKKEN to have earned Provincial Colours in 2011 and 2012 and National Federation Colours in 2011.
The MSSA Management Board has agreed that the second South African team member will be the highest placed South African citizen who plays TEKKEN at the 2012 KwaZulu Natal Championships, to be held on 14 July 2012 in Pietermaritzburg.
