Over at Comic-Con, Epic Games has announced that its upcoming scavengin’, buildin’, zombie holocaust-’em-up Fortnite will not only be the first next-gen Unreal Engine 4 game, but also a PC exclusive (for now). Can you feel that, PC gamers? It’s the magic of love.

The game, first shown at the Spike TV Video Game Awards in December 2011, is a co-op survival game that looks like a mashup of Gears of War’s Horde mode and Minecraft. The big idea is to collect stuff and build some sort of shelter, then survive waves of zombies. It’s like practice for the real zombie apocalypse.

“Building is really the core of the game,” producer Tanya Jessen told attendees at Epic’s Comic-Con panel talk. “Everything you find allows you to build and improve your structure.”

While Cliff Bleszinki added that Fortnite is “a PC designed game, shipping exclusively on the PC,” there may be a console release in the future. He later clarified on Twitter that “Fortnite is PC primary and first, but we wouldn’t rule out the possibility of other platforms later.”

The game is expected to launch next year.
