It’s that Xbox LIVE Summer of Arcade time of the year again, even though it’s 12 degrees in Cape Town and every time I breathe out, there’s a cloud of vapour between me and my screen.
My hands might have frozen into little hooked claws over my keyboard, but my heart has been warmed by news from Xbox LIVE chief Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb that there’s free Minecraft and Trials Evolution DLC dropping next week.
The exclusive content includes “a special, customised Summer of Arcade skin pack for Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition”, as well as a new, Summer of Arcade-themed track for Trials Evolution each week of the promotion.
The DLC will be available from Wednesday 18 July, when the Summer of Arcade gets started with the launch of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD. It’s apparently available free to “all Xbox LIVE members”, although it’s not clear whether that really means “Xbox LIVE Gold subscribers” or “everybody, seriously”. We’ll have to wait and see.
In the meantime, perhaps it’s time I invested in a new heater, because the one I have now set my blanket on fire two weeks ago.
