Rumoured images of new PS3 hit the internet

While the world waits for the next generation of consoles, Sony isn’t quite done with the current just yet. Portuguese website Technoblog has dropped images of what appears to be the latest (and most likely final) model of the Playstation 3.

These pictures (seen at the bottom of the page) show a console labelled as a PS3, but with a ridged top and what looks like it could be a sliding panel. The pictures were taken from Brazilian Agency of Telecommunications Anatel’s website.

The same site has also unearthed documents from Sony Brasil detailing three models which have been submitted for certification – identical apart from storage capacity. These are 16GB, 250GB and an impressive 500GB.

This will be the 4000 series of units (the current unit being the 3000 series), which are rumoured to be having their big reveal at Gamescom next month.
