Valve have been talking about developing on Linux for quite some time now, and the company has just confirmed their first game heading to the platform.
Left 4 Dead 2 will soon be available on Linux, thanks to Valve’s Steam service making a debut on Ubuntu.
Valve’s current focus is getting Steam running at full functionality, optimising L4D2 to be running at high frame rate with OpenGL, and porting additional Valve titles for the future.
Even though Left 4 Dead 2 has been out for quite some time, it’s a good step forward for Linux gamers, as the game is still getting support in the form of the Cold Stream DLC pack heading for Windows, 360 and Mac.
