Take on South Korea as SA’s Starcraft II champ

Mind Sports South Africa (MSSA) and PolarfluKe have teamed up to bring the 2012 MSSA Online StarCraft II Championship to fruition this year.

The tournament itself is built around a Swiss Rounds structure, with any affiliated or registered MSSA players welcome to enter.

Day 1 and 2 of the Swiss Rounds will be happening on the 21st and 22nd of July respectively, with the tournament running on the European Battle.net server.

The tournament is a provincial championship, therefore awarding colours, medals and qualification rights to future National team trials.

MSSA are also sending a team to participate in the 2012 IeSF’s World Championship from 4 to 8 October 2012; and if you’re interested in making the team, the upcoming championship is a good place to try out, given that a gamer who makes an impression will likely be chosen.

21st July 2012 14:00 SAST – Day 1 of Swiss Rounds
22nd July 14:00 SAST – Day 2 of Swiss Rounds(if needed)
The tournament will run via the European Battle.net server

Registration

Participants can register for the tournament HERE
Players must be registered with a MSSA Affiliated Club (See Rules below)

The championship is accredited as being of the same status as a provincial championship. This means that the championship shall be used for the following:

The awarding of provincial colours;
The awarding of medals for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in Premier, Under 24, and School categories;
The ability to qualify for National Team Trials.

Please note that the MSSA shall be sending a team to participate in the 2012 IeSF’s World Championships in October 2012, it is likely that a gamer who participates in this championship may very well be so selected.

Round 1: 14:00 SAST
Round 2: 15:30 SAST
Round 3: 17:00 SAST
Round 4: 18:30 SAST
Sunday: Swiss Stages – Best of 3 (If needed)
Round 5: 14:00 SAST
Round 6: 15:30 SAST
Round 7: 17:00 SAST
Round 8: 18:30 SAST

Seedings

Players will randomly be seeded into the Swiss Rounds

Eligibility

Participants must be 18 years of age or older
Participants of a minor age must get a guardian to submit a letter of consent via email along with their entry for the tournament
Participants must own a legal version of StarCraft II
Participants must be South African citizens
Participants must belong to a MSSA affiliated club

Communication

All players must be on IRC for the duration of the tournament – irc.shadowfire.org

Map Selection

A coin toss will determine which player begins the map selection process [Admin to assist in toss if needed]
Players will take turns to veto 1 map from the match, veto’d maps may not be played at any stage of the current match
Players will then take turns eliminating maps from the remaining pool until 1 map remains
Alternatively, players may agree on a starting map
Every subsequent map will be chosen by the loser of the previous map
No map may be played more than once during the current match set [e.g. Best of 3, Best of 5]

MLG Daybreak
MLG Tal’darim Altar (All Spawns Allowed)
MLG Shakuras Plateau (No Close by Ground Spawns)
MLG Metropolis (No Close by Ground Spawns)

Disconnection

A disconnection within the first 4 minutes of play time will result in a rematch. A disconnection after 4 minutes will result in a loss, unless the players request a rematch and an administrator approves. Any disputes should be brought to an administrator’s attention

Match Results

A map is won in one of two ways – Beat your opponent sufficiently to have him/her admit defeat (Standard practice is ‘gg’) or destroy all of his/her buildings
The result of each match must be reported by both players to a PolarfluKe administrator

Replays

Saturday and Sunday – All replays from the Swiss Rounds must be sent to matt[at]polarfluke[dot]co[dot]za
Replay Format must be as follows: Player1_Player2_Game#_Map eg. Shase_Stripe_Game3_DualSight

Spectators

Players may decide if they are to allow spectators into a match
Administrators and approved shoutcasters may spectate any match
Spectators will not be allowed into match if approved shoutcasters are present
Players must set their status to Busy if there are spectators in their match

The administrators’ decision is final, no discussion on decisions will be entered into.
