Assassin’s Creed III gets Season Pass, post-launch episodic DLC

Are you sitting down? You should probably sit down. Maybe also grab a big teddybear. Hug it tight. Now, are you ready? Okay. Deep breath. Okay.

There’s going to be Assassin’s Creed III DLC. Shhh. Shhhh shhh SHHH. I know, it’s a shock. But we’ll… somehow we’ll make it through this together, okay? I promise.

The news comes via Kotaku, who were passed on an internal document from US retailer Gamestop, sent to staff by Ubisoft as a “well done” sort of thing for meeting pre-order targets. According to the document, Ubisoft is already “creating a complementary development team that will begin work on post-launch episodic content”, with big promises to “set the bar for quality DLC in our industry”. Multiplayer skins? You read it here first, people.

The game will apparently also feature a “Season Pass”, which presumably lets you bulk buy additional DLC at a discounted price.

I think my favourite bit about this is the “exclusive necklace from the Assassin’s Creed team” included with the letter. Because you just know it’s some cheap plastic thing with feathers glued on it that the manager pinned to the rec room notice board, so the employees could gaze upon it with envious awe and be inspired to work harder.
