Skyrim Dawnguard expansion “not announced” for PC, PS3

27 July 2012

It’s been 30 days since the Dawnguard expansion for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim launched on Xbox, and everybody else has been waiting for the DLC to drop on PC and PS3 – except, technically it’s not been announced, as Bethesda pointed out last night.

Not that it means it won’t ever be announced, just that it hasn’t been announced yet. And might not be announced ever. But it might be announced. The point is, nothing has been announced.

“We have not announced Dawnguard for any other platform, nor given a timeline for any such news,” Bethesda vice-prez Pete Hines said on Twitter. “If we have news, I promise I’d tell you.”

So it’s an announcement about no announcement.

He later clarified that “I was simply stating that expecting/demanding something today is unfounded. Not that news is never coming.”

In response to questions from fans about the unannounced announcement, he added that “Sometimes it’s better to say nothing until you can provide solid info than say something before you can.”

So don’t expect an announcement until it’s ready to be announced.
