EA promises Battlefield 3 support after Battlefield 4 release

28 July 2012

EA has promised they will continue to support Battlefield 3 players, even after the release of Battlefield 4.

Fans of the game were concerned that the newly announced Battlefield 4 beta which begins in spring 2013 will be BF3’s swan song.

However, Battlefield 3 community manager Ian Tornay has posted on the game’s official blog, promising that DICE will continue to lend support to the game, despite the release of the sequel.

“We are committed to providing an excellent Battlefield 3 experience well into the future, past the releases of Aftermath, End Game and Battlefield 4,” EA said.

“DICE is continuing its work on Battlefield 3 alongside Battlefield 4. Most importantly, official details regarding Battlefield 4 will always be made available on Battlefield.com and here on the Battlefield Blog. We expect that the level of interest in Battlefield 4 will lead to a lot of speculation and rumour – don’t fall for it!”

If you’re looking to get access to the upcoming beta, the easiest way to do it will be to pre-order the Limited Edition of Medal of Honor: Warfighter, which is due out later this year. Doing this guarantees access to the beta, but EA assures us that this won’t be the only way.

Regarding Battlefield 3, Tornay also had some details on the release of Battlefield 3 add-on Armored Kill, which is due out in September.

These are:

  • Armored Kill will have five new drivable vehicles including mobile artillery, tank destroyers and ATVs.
  • There will be over 20 vehicle specific unlocks.
  • Players will be able to spawn in and fire from the all-new gunship.
  • We will be introducing the Tank Superiority game mode where tank pilots and infantry will have to use all their skills to control key points of the maps.
  • The console player cap will stay at 24 players. Players can expect to have a great time on these maps as we are custom tailoring the new Armored Kill maps with these parameters in mind.
