Crytech are well-known for pioneering insane graphics in videogames, producing GPU-melting water reflections and swaying grass. They also occasionally include actual gameplay as well, when they aren’t working on the finer details of a leaping frog.
They’ve now released a new Crysis 3 trailer, and it’s more than a little impressive.
It’s not short on impressive details such as “tessellated vegetation”, “dynamic water volume caustics”, “unlimited particle effects lighting” and, as previously mentioned, “top secret tessellated toad tech”. Don’t laugh, that amphibian looks freakin’ incredible.
Crytech are once again raising the bar on videogame graphics, making the rest of the developer very uncomfortable about their stodgy pixels. This isn’t some future-future-tech video either, Crysis 3 is set to land on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 in February 2013.
Aside from giving PC owners something to justify their water-cooled neon-lit purchase with, Crytech think it’s going to be a pretty good game too. That is, if you can lift your jaw fast enough to shoot that guy hiding behind the tessellated tree.
Check out the ridiculous jungle video below.
