Half-Life 3 featured on Gamescom product lineup [Update inside!]

Half-Life 3 may or may not ever be released, or ever been in development, or ever even have existed at all, but according to the official Gamescom 2012 product list, it’s going to be right there at the expo anyway. It’s right there on the list.

I’ve included multiple levels of magnification just to be totally sure, but it’s right there. On the list.

Maybe there’s been some sort of misunderstanding, maybe the website has been hacked and a fake list uploaded, but maybe – just maybe – Valve is showing Half-Life 3 at Gamescom. Or maybe it’s a misprint, and it was actually supposed to say Half-Life 4. There’s a Half-Life 4 in development?! You read it here first, people.

Expect some sort of official no-comment from Valve by later tonight, but in the meantime, let’s have lots more speculation, rumours, and stuff you heard from this one guy who heard from somebody else who read something somewhere about Half-Life 3! It’s Half-Life 3! Or Half-Life 4.

Update: Oh boo. Gamescom organisers told Eurogamer that the inclusion of both Half-Life 3 and Dragon Age 3 was “a mistake”. On the plus side, everybody being totally disappointed because Half-Life 3 isn’t everything they’d dreamed it would be and is, instead, going to be an “epic fail” because of this, that, and something else based on a 10-second teaser reel has been postponed again. Thanks to reader Stefan for the link.
