Angry Birds creators target Cape Town

21 August 2012

The creators behind the bird-pig-death simulator Angry Birds will be launching themselves to South Africa for an upcoming event.

Taking place from 13 – 15 November at the Cape Town International Convention Centre, AfricaCom’s AfricaApps conference brings some of the world’s most prominent app developers, telecoms, media and ICT industry insiders together with the budding tech community of SA.

Rovio’s Peter Vesterbacka will not only be chatting about his love for avian and swine destruction, but will contribute to a panel, “Innovation or Disruption? Debating the Role of New Players in the Digital Ecosystem”, alongside representatives of Google, Amazon, Orange, and Alcatel-Lucent.

Key issues discussed at the conference include, creating discoverable apps, marketing your apps to the African markets, successful monetisation models, choosing the correct payment platform, and who to partner with to maximise success.

The event will also host a Mobile Apps Dragons Den, where key Venture Capitalists will discuss what they look for from a successful app.
