BT Games is offering a promotion on the upcoming Halo 4, whereby customers that pre-purchase the game and/or the Halo 4 console bundle before 30 September 2012 will also get a voucher for 2,400 MS Points (an approximate value of R250). This will no doubt come in handy for the the inevitable roll-out of post-release DLC.
Halo 4 is currently priced at R525 for pre-order on the BT Games website. A pre-order incentive features the Artic Weapon Skin and Circuit Armor Skin. The game launches on 6 November 2012.
It remains to be seen how other local retailers will respond, and if they can offer a similar deal on the game.
Halo 4 sees the return of the indomitable Master Chief and his AI sidekick Cortana, with new developmental keepers 343 Industries having taken over from Bungie. Halo 4 is the first in a trilogy with a story arc designed to span the series.
The gameplay promises to evolve the familiar run n’ gun FPS stylings of the original games by adding in more exploratory elements and a story that will enthral the player and keep them driving forward.
On the multiplayer side, things will be bigger than ever, with a new multiplayer hub system. Halo Infinity builds upon the Halo franchise’s multiplayer history and promises to blend storytelling and multiplayer into a seamless experience.
The hub of the entire Halo 4 multiplayer component will be the UNSC Infinity (hence the multiplayer mode’s name). The Infinity is the largest starship in the UNSC fleet and will act as a control centre to the online experience. Players will navigate the Infinity as they build their custom Spartan super-soldier and progress through different competitive and cooperative game modes.
Halo: Infinity intends to blend the multiplayer element of the game with the fiction of the Halo universe.
Xbox 360 exclusive Halo 4 is set to launch on 6 November 2012.
