“Console war movie” domains snapped up by Sony

Sony Pictures has registered 18 domains with brand protection company MarkMonitor for something called “console war movie”, covering pretty much every possible permutation of the words “console”, “war”, and “movie”. Is Sony Pictures making a movie about the console war? Probably.

According to Fusible, the domains include:

console-war.net
console-warmovie.com
console-wars.net
console-warsmovie.com
consolewar-movie.com
consolewar-movie.net
consolewar.net
consolewarmovie.com
consolewars-movie.com
consolewars-movie.net
consolewarsmovie.com
theconsolewar-movie.com
theconsolewar-movie.net
theconsolewar.net
theconsolewarmovie.com
theconsolewars-movie.com
theconsolewars-movie.net
theconsolewarsmovie.com

For the moment, none of the domains actually resolves to a webpage, but exist only as place-holders in case anybody gets any big ideas. Presumably, this gives the people over at Sony Pictures time to hire Shia LeBoeuf and Megan Fox for the gripping action drama about two high school seniors locked in a YouTube comments battle for console supremacy. Or something.

Although Sony Computer Entertainment doesn’t appear anywhere on the registration info, it’s also possible that whatever this is, it’s part of the PS4 marketing campaign. I guess we’ll all just have to wait it out and see.

With Megan’s freakishly strong toe-thumbs, Shia had no chance of escape.
