Nintendo 3DS XL melted in microwave, put on eBay for R18,000

Proving that anything is art – and therefore so much more valuable – if you put it in a microwave and melt it, one eBay seller is punting a microwave-melted Nintendo 3DS XL for $2,241.00 (around R18,000) so you can frame it on a wall or something, and everybody will think you’re totally sophisticated.

Described as “Professionally Microwaved Extra Crunchy”, the red 3DS XL is being sold with the disclaimer that it’s “seller refurbished” item to get around the fact that it’s, well, not exactly functional. But then, art has no obligation to be of any use to anyone except a hole in your bank account where money used to be.

It’s, like, a critique of the subtextual paradigm of discourse suggesting that consensus is a product of the collective unconscious.

If you’re too cheap or lacking in the sort of refined sensibilities to appreciate the deformed 3Ds XL as a neo-structural sub-conceptualist narrative on reality as a paradox, there’s also a video of the device being melted in the microwave. Yay, expensive stuff being melted in a microwave! The only question remaining is, will it blend?
