Aliens: Colonial Marines adds a Marines vs Xenomorphs multiplayer mode

30 August 2012

We got tactical smart missiles, phase-plasma pulse rifles, RPGs, we got sonic electronic ball breakers! We got nukes, we got knives, sharp sticks…and we’re gonna need them all, because Sega has announced that Aliens: Colonial Marines will be deploying with a Marines versus Xenomorphs multiplayer mode.

According to the official press stuff:

Providing for an innovative asymmetrical competitive multiplayer experience, Aliens: Colonial Marines lets players fight in first person as the ultimate badasses – the United States Colonial Marines, or in third person as the universe’s deadliest killers – the Xenomorphs. Plunging into familiar and new environments from the iconic film franchise, players will have to fight the fear and face the true horrors of the ALIENS universe.

This is the first competitive multiplayer mode confirmed for the game, which also includes a four-player co-op campaign.

After several delays, the game’s now scheduled to launch for PC, PS3, and Xbox on 12 February next year. Unless it’s delayed again. In which case, I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure. The only way to be sure of what, exactly? That it’s never delayed again.
