Local retailers are offering a few gaming deals and specials which should catch your eye if you’re in the market for a console or some games.

Playstation 3 160GB console with 2 controllers (Game) R2,999.00

Game are putting up a pretty alluring deal at the moment, by offering a 160GB Playstation 3 console, along with a second DualShock 3 controller, all for R2,999.

If you also choose to take a 12-month Mweb ADSL contract and accept the terms and conditions (including ADSL line rental, etc), you get R1,000 slashed off and the whole bundle for R1,999.

Xbox 360 250GB Console and Gears of War trilogy bundle (Walmart/Makro) R2,799.00

The Gears of War trilogy is all wrapped up now, but for those who have never played it and are looking to finally buy an Xbox 360, Makro are offering a solid deal on a 250 GB console and the three games.

The special also includes a second controller, which will be needed for some Gears co-op action.

If there’s anyone who’s been eager for a Xbox 360 but hasn’t managed to come around to getting one, Hi-Fi Corporation is offering a deal, with a 250GB PS3 Xbox 360 for R2,499.99.

Thrown in with the console is SSX, Forza Motorsport 3, and a Crysis 2 download token.

While not monumentally cheap, the prospect of getting three quality console games for under R1,000 is not bad.

For R999 you can get any 3 games. These include Batman: Arkham Asylum, Modern Warefare 3, SSX, Mass Effect 3, Mortal Kombat and FIFA Street to name a few.
