Xbox LIVE down, Microsoft “working to resolve the problem”

4 September 2012

If you can’t log into Xbox LIVE right now, you’ve joined the elite ranks of pretty much everybody else who can’t log into Xbox LIVE right now. Apparently the service is down for some sort of maintenance, although Microsoft is being a bit vague about what exactly that is.

“We’re aware that some users may be experiencing difficulty logging in to Xbox LIVE at present. This does happen from time to time while updates and fixes are made to the system and should not be symptomatic of any larger problems,” reads the official statement on the matter.

“A service update can be found on Xbox.com, alerting Xbox LIVE users to the current state of the service. I don’t have an update on timeframe for service to resume as usual, but we are working on the problem.”

Alternatively, you can click on the Xbox LIVE service status link where you will learn that:

Users may experience difficulties with the following services:

  • Signing into Xbox LIVE from Xbox.com
We are aware of the problem and are working to resolve the issue. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience.
