The Guild Wars 2 hack attempt has been said to have compromised over 11,000 players’ details.
Over the weekend, ArenaNet issued an update on the state of the game, suggesting that anyone who experienced any issues regarding their account or any suspected hacking should report the problems.
From Friday to Sunday, officials said they received around 8,500 support requests related to hacked accounts and another 2,574 requests by Monday.
ArenaNet also gave some advice to avoid becoming a victim of hacking:
“If you don’t want your account hacked, don’t use the same email address and password for Guild Wars 2 that you’ve used for another game or web site,” officials wrote. “Hackers have big lists of email addresses and passwords that they’ve harvested from malware and from security vulnerabilities in other games and web sites, and they’re systematically testing Guild Wars 2 looking for matching accounts.”
The original hack saw a fair chunk of the Guild Wars 2 community reporting that unauthorized attempts to access their accounts were happening.
Users had been receiving “password reset verification” e-mails, when they themselves didn’t ask for a reset.

Dear author, there is a massive difference between hack attempts and actual hacks. From the contents of the article it appears that the majority of the users have had hack attempts and very little to nobody has been hacked. Please stop sensationalizing this…
