Electronic Arts has pledged its backing for Gaymercon, the first ever gaming and tech show focused on LGBTQ culture, by signing up as the first major publisher for the event.

“EA believes that to be truly innovative, you must be inclusive. We are proud to be a part of this event,” said Ginger Maseda, Global Diversity and Inclusion for EA.

While EA has had its fair-share of controversy, the company has always shown its support of the LGBTQ community, even being awarded for “Best Places to work for LGBT Equality” back in 2010.

EA has also never shied away from progressive issues in its games, with the Mass Effect and Dragon Age series offering same-sex relationship options.

Gaymercon will take place in early August 2013 in San Francisco.
