Far Cry 3 won’t be coming to Wii U

23 September 2012

Despite Nintendo’s Wii U having the hardware capabilities to hang with the big boys, Ubisoft have said Far Cry 3 won’t be making an appearance on the new platform.

The news comes via Ubisoft spokesperson Henri Guay, who said the publisher has “no plans to release Far Cry 3 on Wii U”.

Ubisoft is however bringing a number of other games and franchises to the console, including the likes of Assassin’s Creed 3, ZombiU, Just Dance 4 and Rayman Legends. All these games will release simultaneously with the Wii U on November 30th.

Ubisoft doesn’t comment on why they won’t be bringing the game, powered by Crytek’s Dunia engine, to the platform, despite also being slated for a November 30th release. There’s plenty of room for speculation, but the cause is likely more logistical than sinister. Still, would have been interesting to see what the Far Cry franchise could do with the Wii U’s Gamepad controller.
