Sci-fi movies have given us a glimpse into some speculative futures (as well as the past), and the team over at IGN has put together the pivotal points of sci-fi history into a visual timeline.

We get to see the whole spectrum of science-fiction, with events beginning all the way back from 4,000,000 B.C.E. and all the way until 802701 – the year, I mean, not a maths equation.

The timeline puts into perspective the ideas and imaginative futures that may or may not be in store for us, although we’re really only interested in the flying cars. Come on, flying cars.
