Halo 4 unleashes the Flood

Just when you thought it was safe to come out of the library, 343 Industries has announced that they’re deploying the Flood again in Halo 4.

The walking fungus monsters will apparently be starring in their very own multiplayer game mode, somewhat resembling the Infection gametype from previous games in the series. The Flood mode supports up to 10 players, two of whom start out as Flood shamblers with mission orders to spread their, uh, affliction to everybody else in the game. It’s basically exactly how colds get around, except with more guns and violence.

Cover your mouth when you cough, man. Jeez.

It’s also too late to stop them now – the studio has confirmed that Halo 4 is already finished and off to the printers.

“We had a big piece of news yesterday back in the office, which is that the game is literally finished at this point,” development director Frank O’Connor at a press event in London. “They are handing it off through the various certification processes and that, and we’re done.

“It’s been three years of incredibly hard work by about 300 people.”
