Stainless Games’ announcement that a Carmageddon reboot was in the works stirred up nostalgia and excitement from PC gamers, and the studio hopes to get the vehicular mayhem onto consoles too.
“We really want to get it out on consoles as well. It depends on additional funding, but we’re working on that anyway. So we’re hopeful it can happen around the same time as the PC version,” said Stainless Games’ Patrick Buckland.
Buckland’s colleague Neil Barnden added: “It’s not like we completely have to re-do all the work to bring them to consoles. A lot of the technology is already there to take it to other platforms. We’re hoping that we can bring it out sooner rather than later”.
The Carmageddon: Reincarnation Kickstarter campaign has already hit and run its target, adding hope to the reality of console versions.
While originally a PC game, the original Carmageddon did find its way Playstation and Nintendo 64. Let’s hope Carmageddon Reincarnation collides with 360s and PS3s as soon as possible.
