Hutchinson: Assassin’s Creed 3 DLC will include a “WTF chunk of story”

Assassin’s Creed DLC won’t form part of the main story arc of the game, but will instead be, in creative director Alex Hutchinson’s words, a “what the f*** chunk of story”.

Since the DLC won’t be bought by everyone, the developers didn’t want to confuse players for the next game by hinging on story not everyone had experienced.

In an interview with Eurogamer, Hutchinson explained, “We know that not everyone will buy it, so it’s a ‘what the f***’ chunk of story that, if you missed it, the next game will still make sense.”

Animation director Jonathan Cooper teased, “You will never guess what it is.”

If you’re particularly intrigued with this piece of news, you will likely be able to pick up a season pass for the game – the first one the franchise has seen. While plans for the pass have been announced, what exactly you’ll be getting has not.

“It’s that early that we haven’t decided. There are debates as to where we draw the line in the various chunks [of the story],” Hutchinson explained.

“And unlike some people we really don’t start work on it until the game is finished. It is not on the disc.”
