Cybersmart joins 40Mbps VDSL trial: details

9 October 2012

Numerous Cybersmart subscribers are set to benefit from free 40Mbps speed upgrades in Telkom’s high speed VDSL broadband trial.

“The exchanges have been upgraded officially from the first of October. We have a list of customers who we believe are in the footprint,” said Cybersmart CEO Laurie Fialkov.

“Each of them will be phoned and invited to participate. We expect 100% participation since there will be absolutely no cost to them.”

Fialkov explained that qualifying customers will be contacted to ask them if they want to participate, and if they are keen a 40Mbps capable router will be couriered to them free of charge.

“We will be asking our customers for feedback on a regular basis. We have also agreed that Telkom poll these customers as to the performance,” said Fialkov.

Fialkov added that the increased speed will be available during the trial period and the customers will automatically be downgraded when the trial ends.
