League of Legends cheater hit with massive fine

Riot Games has accused a League of Legends player of cheating at the recent World Playoffs in Los Angeles, slapping a $30,000 fine on the not-so-sneaky no-gooder for “unsportsmanlike conduct”.

The accusation was directed at Woong of team Azubu Frost, who was said to have had an advantage by having the line of sight to glance at an audience monitor, which showed the map without the fog of war.

This allowed Woong to see where members of the other team were, and therefore adjust his and his team’s strategy accordingly.

“AzF Woong violated the rules by looking at the stage screens. His actions yielded benefits for AzF in the game. Other members of AzF modified their gameplay based upon the information,” says the official ruling of the tournament event.

Riot Games have imposed the fine of $30,000 on Woong, although it won’t hurt him too much, as $30,000 is his cut from the team winnings for making the semi-finals. The money will go to charity.
