Borderlands 2 DLC expansion confirmed for launch next week

Following yesterday’s unscheduled leak, Gearbox has confirmed that the Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate’s Booty DLC expansion is real, and it’s landlubbin’ next week, arrr arrrr arrrrrrrrr.

Thar she goes.

The DLC introduces a completely new location, Oasis, and the inevitable heap of new stuff, including sandworms and a skiff vehicle to run them over with. Ah, I love the smell of roadkill in the morning.

“You can sense the pirate theme across the landscape, even though there’s no water,” says Gearbox Software prez Randy Pitchford. “It’s all dried up. It feels more like Tatooine than an ocean. These bandits have really embraced the pirate lifestyle, and there’s the legend of a treasure. That kicks off this whole adventure that the players can go on.”

The expansion drops next Tuesday, 16 October. It’s included as part of the Season Pass deal, but will also be available to buy separately for $10 / 800 MSP / 5000 Eridium.
