The Call of Duty Elite service is going free for Black Ops II.
The service, which offers star tracking, social options, monthly map updates and more, has previously been available (mostly) exclusively through a paid premium plan, but this has been dropped with Black Ops II.
When gamers buy Black Ops II, they’ll gain access to many of the perks that Elite offers, but it all sounds too good to be true.
And partially, it is. Players won’t automatically get early access to DLC anymore, and will have to buy one of those increasingly ubiquitous season passes for $50 (or 4,000 Microsoft Points) to get the expansions ahead of everyone else.
This will give gamers access to four map packs throughout 2013. Each map pack would normally cost $15 each, but season pass holders will be able to grab them all for $50, saving a total of $10.
Call of Duty Elite on Black Ops II will be available for SA, as confirmed by local Activision distributor Megarom.
Black Ops II is set to launch worldwide on 13 November 2012.
