Nintendo counterfeiter faces jail time

22 October 2012

A man busted selling counterfeited Nintendo Wii and DS games is now looking at some hard time behind bars after cashing in almost $1 million in illegal sales.

James Success Brooks (more like “Un-Success”, amirite?), was caught out when Nintendo and the UK authorities heard of the operation, and began buying pirated and fraudulent products from various retailers until they traced them to the source.

Brooks was charged with “two counts of fraudulent trading, two counts of supplying an article to use in fraud, two counts of unauthorised possession of goods bearing a trademark and one count of unauthorised use of a trademark,” according to the report.

He’s pleaded guilty to all charges and is set to face a judge on 9 November for sentencing.
