SA pro gamer heads to e-sports World Cup

South African professional gamer Robert “PandaTank” Botha has got thenod to compete on the world stage of gaming competitions, the 2012 Electronic Sports World Cup (ESWC).

The ESWC will take place in Porte de Versailles, Paris, alongside the Paris Games Week trade fair.

The world’s best players will compete for a first prize of $20,000 (R175 274), second prize of $12,000 (R105 143), and third-place will receive a respectable $8,000 (R70 091).

Robert will be competing alongside players from the USA, France, Ukraine, China, Japan, Argentina, Sweden and Korea.

PandaTank recently got invited to the prestigious Razer gaming academy in Los Angeles, California, in order to hone his skills and progress his gaming career further.
